The feel of wood grain and the undeniable smell of the material makes wood an enduringly popular choice for those looking to create a homely aesthetic. My oversized arched mirrors have a unique and modern look that can add a touch of elegance and sophistication to any room. They often have a simple and minimalist design which can be a perfect complement to any interior decor. My mirrors are all built on 3/4” cabinet-grade birch sanded plywood for the backing. This backing allows for ultimate structural integrity and gives the mirror a deeper, thicker side profile my customers desire. The backs are also finished to match the frame finish. Most of my customers position their mirrors in ways that the back is visible from some angles, so they appreciate that it has a completed finish all around. I use 1/4” Ultra Clear Low Iron Glass in all our custom mirrors. The glass can also be beveled when requested. The glass is permanently bonded to the 3/4” backing before the frames are added. The kiln-dried pine frame is glued directly to the backing to create a seamless, solid finish (no putty or hole plugs). The frame is then sanded and edge banding is added to the sides of the frame for a uniform profile. Once the frame is flawless, the stain/paint is applied.
